Initially, Shelby’s father entered the garage door business by working for James and Holly Jack at O’Brien Doors. This company had established itself as a door and dock solution provider since 1963. Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, Shelby’s father soon ventured out to establish his own garage door company American Door and Spring, which later became American Service Center. Bud Palmer’s understanding of the local market and business sense allowed his independent operation to flourish, rapidly growing to become the largest of its kind in the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) Metroplex. This success continued until his passing in 1997, leaving behind a strong legacy within the regional garage door industry.
